BHA/P Instructor Teisha Simmons

Teisha Simmons (Nekkegun) is Central Koyukon Athabascan and is of the Caribou Clan. Her family comes from the communities of Galena, Koyukuk, and Huslia. Teisha currently lives in Fairbanks with her partner Zac and their daughter Tassy. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2000, and a Master of Arts degree in Community-Clinical Psychology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2003. Her prior experience is in teaching behavioral health courses at the university level, and in senior administration in both higher education and at her Tribal Health Organization. Teisha is passionate about language and song revitalization, learning about traditional ways, and contributing to volunteer efforts focused on homelessness and resilience building.
