Director of BHA Training Xiomara Owens

Dr. Xiomara “Xio” Owens grew up in Wasilla, Alaska and currently lives in Anchorage with her 3 sons. Xio obtained bachelor and master degrees in psychology from the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) and her PhD from the UAA Clinical-Community Psychology program. She completed her pre-doctoral internships as a clinician in Bethel and has worked within the Behavioral Health Aide Program at the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium for ten years, supporting tribal partners’ development and implementation of regional BHA programs and employees. As the Director of Behavioral Health Aide Training, Xio works with her team to design, develop, and deliver resources to support individuals’ and organizations’ workforce training and certification needs and goals. In her off time, Xio enjoys being with her family, biking, cooking, doing puzzles, and playing games.
