ADTEP Contract Faculty & Instructor Alejandro J. Delgado, DDS, MS

Alex J. Delgado received his DDS degree from Universidad Santa María, Caracas, Venezuela in 2001. From 2001 through 2010, Dr. Delgado worked in a private practice and clinical settings in Venezuela and North Carolina. In 2011, he joined the University of North Carolina, School of Dentistry at Chapel Hill where he earned his Masters and Operative Dentistry certificate. He also taught at UNC while he was completing his residency. Dr. Delgado joined the University of Florida in 2014, as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dental Sciences in the Division of Operative Dentistry. Dr. Delgado is a member of several professional organizations including the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Operative Dentistry, and the International Association for Dental Research. He served as manuscript reviewer for 3 scientific journals (Journal of Operative Dentistry, Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry and Journal of Prosthodontics). He also serves as part of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Dentistry and Oral Care. In 2016, he was presented with The Judson C. Hickey Scientific Writing Award of the American Prosthodontic Society and also was awarded as Teacher of the Year 2015-2016 of the University of Florida. Dr. Delgado is involved in patient care devoted to prevention, restorative dentistry and esthetics. He is actively maintained in research, particularly in the area of dental erosion, biomaterials and educational research. He is the course director of Operative II and also serves as the faculty advisor for the DMD class of 2018.
