Tobacco Use Prevalence & Cessation in Alaska

One of the leading health indicator topic areas that continues to be a major public health challenge in Alaska is tobacco use. Being that Alaska is so geographically vast, access to care, including tobacco cessation can be a challenge. This session will give a brief overview of tobacco use history and prevalence in Alaska, and tobacco cessation resources across the state. Participants will discuss barriers and solutions to tobacco cessation across the state.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe tobacco use history in Alaska.
  2. Describe best practices for tobacco cessation.
  3. Identify barriers and solutions to tobacco cessation in their communities and/or region.
  4. Identify tobacco cessation resources in the state of Alaska.
