Protective Factors to Support Wellness Across the Lifespan

National research indicates that focusing on protective factors during adolescence can have a profound impact on wellness later in life. Healthy Alaskans 2030 recently finalized its leading health objectives and included protective factors among its priorities. This 90-minute session will describe the importance of protective factors to adolescent health; discuss cross-sector strategies to maintain or improve protective factor approaches in rural communities; and discuss the connection between protective factors, cultural approaches for prevention and Alaska Native values.
