Evidence, Barriers, and Considerations for Medication Assisted Treatment

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders remains underutilized, despite research demonstrating its effectiveness in reducing risk for overdose and promoting wellbeing. This presentation will review the evidence for available MAT for treatment opioid, alcohol, and tobacco use disorders. We will describe ways to breakdown individual barriers to MAT rooted in stigma. We will explore considerations for privacy, ethics, and confidentiality across different health care settings.
