Ethical Practice in Telehealth

Although there are ethical issues that exist with the use of telehealth, there are a multitude of benefits to being able to provide healthcare services using telehealth. One of the most impactful benefit is providing the opportunity for people to receive services who might not otherwise have access to care, or who would have to travel outside of their communities for services. This is crucial for Alaskans given the large geographical area, and travel costs and limitations, however, there are best practices that must be followed when using telehealth to ensure client safety and treatment success. Additionally, telehealth is a new concept for many populations, so people’s cultures, and experiences must be considered when providing telehealth services.
