Standards and Procedures
The Community Health Aide Program Certification Board sets the standards for community health aide programs and certifies individuals as Behavioral Health Aides, Community Health Aides, and Dental Health Aides. Organizations operating a community health aide program, certified training centers, and the certified individuals are subject to the specific requirements set forth in the “Community Health Aide Program Certification Board Standards and Procedures” (CHAPCB S&Ps).
For historical reasons, the term “community health aides” encompasses a range of health aide disciplines and levels of practice.
The CHAPCB S&Ps serve as the guiding program and certification document and describes the:
- Authority and Scope,
- Definitions,
- Scope of practice,
- Qualifications for certification,
- Requirements for training and supervision,
- Requirements for training centers,
- Suspension and appeals processes, and
- Board procedures.
