ADTEP Instructor/DHAT Practitioner Angelica D. Afcan
Angelica Afcan is originally from Nunam Iqua, Alaska which is a small Yup’ik community of about 200 people at the very end of the Yukon River. She graduated from the Alaska Dental Therapy Educational Program in 2014. She worked as a Dental Health Aide Therapist serving rural communities with the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation for four years, during this time she was named the Rising Star by the Dental Academic Review Committee in 2016 for her unwavering commitment to her community. She followed her lifelong interest in teaching, and accepted a position as a Dental Health Aide Therapist Instructor/Practitioner with the Alaska Dental Therapy Educational Program in 2018. She has two daughters, so she spends most of her free time with them, doing subsistence activities, and continuing cultural traditions.
